Competition
Take Over the Terezin Legacy
The competition “Take over the Terezín legacy” was created with the idea of informing as many young people as possible about the life and creativity of their peers in the Terezín ghetto. Additionally, it aims to pass on their message to today’s boys and girls and allow them to experience some of the solidarity and friendship among children during those dark times while solving tasks. The idea of the students and teachers from the Nature School was immediately supported by Holocaust survivors, the Jewish Museum in Prague, and other partners.
2011 | 1. edition
In the first edition, 24 schools from across the country participated. During three rounds, teams delved into the history of the 1930s and 1940s, experiencing the reality of anti-Jewish measures during the Protectorate era and deportations to the Terezín ghetto. The culmination of the competition was an immersive meeting of the finalists in Terezín.
2014 | 2. edition
The second year was organized in collaboration with the Department of Education and Culture of the Jewish Museum in Prague and Holocaust survivors. The goal was not only to familiarize today’s young people with the lives of their peers in the Terezín ghetto but also to build upon their artistic creations from that time and personally meet those who survived.
