How did it all begin?
The Terezín Legacy (old name Vedem 2010 project) was initiated by boys and girls from the Natural School Gymnasium in Prague (along with a few teachers).
It started when we came across the magazines created by Jewish teenagers during the time of the Protectorate in Terezín. We were captivated not only by the texts but also by how bravely they endured all the hardships, how they fought with humor, creativity, and by being friends who stuck together during the difficult times.
Gradually, more and more people joined us, including several “boys and girls” who had lived in Terezín during that time and remembered everything.
The Terezín Relay is now being taken up by new generations of students, not only at the Natural School Gymnasium.
Why do we believe it is worth dedicating ourselves to such a topic?
In today’s world, where the prevailing opinion is that modern equipment is needed for everything, it is good to remember the things our peers were able to accomplish with just a piece of paper and a pencil stub. It is also an incredibly rewarding feeling when things around you come to life, things that their creators never imagined would be known worldwide.

It helps me to reevaluate and properly prioritize what is important in life. It reminds me that in every era and situation, a person can stay true to themselves. The important things remain the same regardless of the time – friendship, creativity, joy in life and all its gifts. And more than how long life is, what matters is how one fills it with meaning.
